Home Actor Chris Burkard HD Photos and Wallpapers April 2024 Chris Burkard Instagram - Stretching between the shores of Alaska and Russia, this chain of 14 volcanoes and 55 smaller land masses make up what is known as the Aleutian Islands… one of the most remote and difficult landscapes I’ve photographed - due to the harsh storms the frequent the Bering sea that often shrouds them in thick clouds & fog. In the past, I had set out to these islands with the goal of surfing in mind.. but in 2018, I received a grant from Conservation International to document the Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge - focusing more on showing the scope of the landscape and it’s largely undisturbed beauty. We caught a window in the weather - so I grabbed my camera & jumped in a small plane… resulting in some of the most unforgettable aerial views of my career.

Chris Burkard Instagram – During a catalog shoot, along with the task of artfully showing a new product, I think it’s crucial to convey sense of place, practicality, emotion, and what made that particular moment and person special. Ideally inspiring someone to find their own version of that while using that jacket or backpack… I wanted that feeling to emerge in this campaign I shot in 2022 for the Backcountry fall catalog so I felt that Iceland was the right place. We jumped from the Vestmann Islands to þörsmork – all along the South Coast where you can get soaked in a rain coat under a huge waterfall or stand on a black sand beach next to blue ice just a couple of hours, bringing a natural diversity into the commercial task which is what I often aim for.

Chris Burkard Instagram – The canyon shown above is home to the Rio Palena – a powerful river system teeming with salmon and trout that eventually feeds into the South Pacific traveling through 150 miles of striking landscapes. This particular night, i noticed a storm rolling in close to the @elevenexperience lodge and decided to put the drone up (despite significant wind) to capture the sunset and idyllic lenticular clouds that are commonly seen in Patagonia, brushed by wind swirling at high speeds. During this assignment, I also had the opportunity to spend a lot of time flying with @aeroalerce – affording me a more in depth intake of the landscape but still just an introduction into over 2,300 islands that sit off the coast of Chile and over 800 fjords. It’s still a little hard to process the sheer amount of landscape here and I’m excited to continue to explore it
