One of the fun little Easter eggs that I “hid” in the episode of TWD I directed last weekend was a re-creation of the Freddy Krueger makeup from part one of “a nightmare elm street”. I always loved this character and all versions of the character i.e. David Miller and @yagherfx . this is a photo of my best bud and veteran of years of applying Robert’s make up @crognalegino touching up the likeness sculpted by @mikeyrots if you look closely you can see the striped sweater and a distressed glove #freddykrueger played by @garrettzehner
Had a friend pop by the shop and see our restoration of the original werewolf rod puppet created by Rob Bottin for THE HOWLING! This has always been one of the most revered creations in horror cinema so getting the chance to restore it with the help of @norman_cabrera_monsters @tomspinadesigns @beth_amber_hathaway @alexdiaz4121 @jeff_himmel Kathy Sulley, Caleb Schneider, Debra Galvez and others at KNB was an honor (especially after how well received our JAWS shark restoration has been on display at the Academy Museum in LA). So who better to inspect it than the one and only @thedeewallace an absolutely amazing woman and friend. Those of you who saw THAT photo back in Cinefantastique magazine and watched this film know the impact it had on a legion of up and comers. I haven’t posted in quite a while, because quite frankly, between The Walking Dead wrapping production, jumping right into Creepshow season 4 and relocating to Paris for nearly a year to collaborate with Norman and David Zabel on the life changing experience breathing life into Daryl Dixon I was pretty buried (ha). After watching Mike Flanagan’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” on Netflix I felt compelled to talk about what a brilliant piece of filmmaking it is. I found it moving, disturbing poetic, horrifying, passionate all in the exact same moment. I literally couldn’t stop watching….like I’m now cursed. I had the honor of “borrowing” two of Mike Flanagan‘s amazingly talented actresses, Samantha Sloyan and Ruth Codd, for a “Creepshow” segment that I shot last year in Vancouver, and not only am I in awe of these two brilliant women, but in everything that these actors dedicate to their roles. Mike’s ensemble rivals those put together by Frank Darabont! I don’t gush much but DAMN! I rewatched part of it this morning after thinking about it all night. Now back to work wrapping up Daryl Dixon! It’s been a great ride and we are grateful for the response!

I feel the last couple months I’ve had a great opportunity to see some amazing independent horror, movies “talk to me”, “when evil lurks” and now “late night with the devil”. This is a GREAT premise, the script and direction take it to another level. I really enjoyed this film and couldn’t recommend it more. I was very curious where it was headed and having Recently met David, I was even more excited to see this fascinating and unique film. I highly recommended it
