Happy Valentine’s Day to the loveliest there ever was. Thank you for being who you are, thank you for loving me in such a way that you inspired me to strip myself of the mask I can sometimes wear out in the world, and allowing me to show you the parts of myself that even I was afraid to look at. (And also, sorry you had to see all that stuff 😅) I love you with my whole heart, and you and our daughter make coming home the most joyous experience a person can ask for. Not a day goes by that I am not grateful, and feeling like the luckiest person in the world. On this #transdayofvisibility I just want to say that I love you, I see you, I believe you, I’m sorry that it is such a scary time right now. You deserve the dignity and respect that every other human being deserves. Any time you are treated otherwise, remember that the person doing so has allowed their own personal discomfort or simple lack of knowledge cut them off entirely from the beautiful community of people we all know and love. Look at your incredible trans friends or family members and try to imagine the tragedy of going through life writing someone like them off before even meeting them. Love will always win. It’s @msmelanielynskey ‘s birthday today, and Mother’s Day was only a few days ago, and even though being celebrated is not all the way within her comfort zone, I feel compelled to say something! I tell her these things in private, but I kind of want to embarrass her publicly about what a phenomenal mother she is! Not to mention an expert birthday-haver (every year on the dot! Like clockwork)! What our daughter is absorbing about how to be a person from Melanie will carry her through so much… Melanie’s ability to read people and social situations is unparalleled. Her empathy extends beyond anyone’s I’ve ever met, and although I know that I am also passing down things to our daughter, (jumping off of things and being distracted among them), those Melanie intuitions I already see growing within her are invaluable and I am so grateful to be raising this little person with such an incredible partner. I love you and I love that I get to spend my days with these two absolutely beautiful human beings. I know these pictures are weird! I put her name and some prompts into an AI thing and no matter what filter I was using or what I said, about half of them had a figure walking alone through the woods, sometimes towards a mountain? And I think that’s what we’re all kind of doing to some degree, right? In like, metaphor world? Anyway, I am feel so grateful to be a part of her thrilling journey through these woods, however I manifest (friendly woodland creature? Spooky forest sounds? A rando tree? I’ll take it). I definitely feel less lost and/or frightened in my journey through the woods, thanks to you and your incredible love. Anyway, I love you so much!! Happy Birthday!! Happy Mother’s Day!!
