At a certain time in my life, my biggest dream was to become the 1st black principle clarinetist of the NY Philharmonic Orchestra. On Friday, after years of knowing each other but never meeting, I finally met Anthony McGill @mcgillclarinet , the guy who accomplished…MY DREAM!!! Hahaha! First he became the 1st black clarinetist in history to sit in a major opera orchestra (The Met for 10yrs), then he became the 1st black principle clarinetist in a MAJOR symphony in the history of symphonies (The NY Phil)!!! After meeting him, I must say that these accomplishments couldn’t have happened for a nicer guy…other than myself. 😂😂 Brother McGill!! We had no one who looked like us doing what you do, but now, black and brown kids globally have you!!! Congrats on all of your success brother! Just know that I told a lot of elderly white people, “I’m gonna play for the NY Phil one day”, and now every time you walk on stage, they think you’re me! Lolololol!!!! Continued success and I see us performing together in the near future!
