Thank you, all for one of the best months of my life. I hope you had fun too.
If you were there, I fed every single one of you from these hands and our Kogi hearts.
If you couldn’t make it, you fucked up. Jk ha.
From the first service where shit moved like molasses and mushrooms were too wet or char was compromised on meats (I’m sorry), but then to our sixth service last night where things moved swiftly like the turbo moving walkways in the Toronto Airport (iykyk) and food hit those delectable high notes, I’m so happy.
It’s like a team playing its best ball leading up to the playoffs.
We clicked.
And y’all showed me this still resonates with you;
that sharing our soul and history of our specific style of flavors hits with you.
I’ve been around tacos intimately my whole life then it became my life. These are tacos built from years on the streets from Ktown to Crenshaw to Norwalk to Anaheim to Whittier and beyond.
It’s a LA taco derived from our life with Mexican, El Salvadorian, Guatemalan, and Korean touches.
But really it’s just us, Kogi.
LA, OC, South Bay, The Valley, IE, SGV.
Even though I was locked into the food last night I could feel y’all kickin it with your friends and families, joking, laughing, reading books, listening to music, gettin high, making new friends, absorbing the air, chillin, being in the moment irl.
It was dope to see and feel that.
So now we rest and internally figure out how to make this work on a day to day basis.
