S. Dilla Thomas Instagram – This weekend, in partnership with Folded Map Creator @tonikaj and Chicago Historian @6figga_dilla, we kicked off our fourth Disrupting Segregation Bus Tour where we reflect on the impacts of segregation and reimagine our neighborhoods.
Stop #1: We visited an Englewood home that was sold on a Land Sale Contract (LSC), a contract that enforces high monthly payments to the seller without transferring ownership rights to the homebuyer. During the 50s and 60s, this was a common practice to legally steal homes from Black families.
7037 S. Green is one of the many homes captured by Inequity for Sale, a project that captures the stories of Englewood homes sold through LSCs. To learn more, visit inequityforsale.com
Stop #2: Attendees used our kit to explore Lincoln Park and reflect on the differences between both neighborhoods.
