Sara Ramirez Instagram – As much space as I make for anger/rage/sadness, it is imperative that I make as much- if not more- space for joy and pleasure. I’m a human being who deserves love, joy, pleasure, silliness, fun, and for my whole self to be accepted and respected. Here is some of my joy in recent days!
.
.
Pic 1: selfie of me squinting in the sun cosplaying Billy Idol with a curled lip, recently changed hair to platinum, laying on a towel with my sunglasses and Parable of the Sower (yes! It took me forever to read it! Yes! I struggle with staying focused when reading! :)) as I soak in the first rays of Spring.
Pic 2: Mio in the midst of capturing one of his fave toys in his mouth.
Pic 3: Me and Sawyer selfie, out and about having fun! He’s got cute glasses on and an olive beanie. I’m, of course, wearing black.
Pic 4,5,6: beautiful blooming Spring at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Sawyer taking a pic, and a video of gorgeous reds blooming.
Pic 7: my red nails for Red Ink at Joes Pub. I wonder why my middle finger nails are watermelon art? 🤔🍉
Pic 8,9: selfies of me and @trudy0nduty at the park loving on each other with hugs and smooches. Big bright yellow blooming behind us.
Video: me being silly, making my own music, being in on all the jokes. We must have JOY to counteract and resist the systems that would rather we didn’t exist. 👋🏽🥰❤️‍🔥☀️🪻🌱
Sara Ramirez Instagram – Thank you @lanzybear and @watermelonpicturesco for welcoming us to this intimate screening of Walled Off; an incredibly powerful, moving, educational and galvanizing film by @vinarfuso , produced by @anwarhadid @rogerwaters @kwekumandela and Immortal Technique, that centers Palestinian humanity and stories over numbers, and shows the Palestinian perspective on how the ongoing Nakba continues today. Available on all digital platforms MAY 3rd. Spread the word!

Pic1: @qween_jean and I in the screening room, smiling because it feels good to be with likeminded creative community.
Video1: The beautiful flower and watermelon arrangement in the entrance to the screening room, a poster of Watermelon Pictures on the left of the arrangement and to the right is a poster of Walled Off.
Pic2: wide pic of the above.
Video2: panning the entrance to the screening room, all the beautiful creative community in support of this film and Watermelon Pictures.
Video3: selfie video of Qween and I with screening entrance room and community in the background, exclaiming “Solidarity!” “Watermelon Pictures!” “FREE PALESTINE” with Alana’s sister joining us toward the end.
Pic3: my hand holding up a black Watermelon Pics swag bag that reads “FROM THE RIVER TO THE SCREEN PALESTINE WILL BE SEEN” (obsessed) in English and Arabic, English in white, Arabic in red.
Video4: @munir_atalla who is part of the @watermelonpicturesco team, welcoming us inside the screening room and asking who here is Palestinian. The crowd erupts in a loud “WOOO”. Then he says “For all of you who didn’t go ‘wooo’, you are wrong because if you were invited here you are a part of our movement. In our thousands in our millions, we are all Palestinians. And so let’s hear it one more time- Who here is Palestinian?” Everyone erupts in an even louder “WOOO!”. Then Qween exclaims “Viva Viva Palestina!” The crowd laughs and enjoys it! Munir says “Yes.”
Pic4: @lanzybear and Walled Off filmmaker @vinarfuso sitting at the front of the room in a talk back with the audience. So so powerful and appreciated!

They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds. 🌱🍉❤️‍🔥
