Ana Navarro Instagram – I am saddened by this news. Bob Graham was the first politician I ever came in contact with. Like countless other Floridians who needed help, my family would go to his downtown Miami office for help with filing immigration forms. He had the best constituency services of anyone. Later, as an adult, I got to thank him and work with him. He played an instrumental role in helping pass immigration reform benefitting Nicaraguans and Haitians. He worked across the aisle with his Republican colleagues, like Connie Mack. He was down-to-earth and folksy. He kept his word. He instituted “work days”, were he would show-up as a regular laborer with everyday Floridians. I remember him being a waiter at “Versailles”, Miami’s iconic Cuban restaurant. He always carried little notebooks in his pocket and would take notes when people spoke to him about their issues, so he or his staff could actually follow-up. Imagine that! He represented our state with joy, dedication, civility and dignity. He loved Florida -all of it- and fought hard for its people and environment. Sadly for Florida and our country, they don’t make them like #BobGraham anymore.
