Ashley Scott Instagram – It’s hard to express what the last 48 hours have been like. Preparation,filling the fridge and the tanks, painting, worry, loss of power, candle light, leaking water, worry, flooding water, trench shoveling without shovel but broom worked fine, missing Ada, sleepless night, our home devastated because water rising and no possible down hill run, upset that certain humans don’t understand the force of nature, Worry, excruciating loss, helping neighbors in 5 ft of water having to abandon their cars, Forrest rescuing, community, painting with Iyla, power outage cooking on the grill, memory’s of camping on the Carisso Plains, missing feelings, best breakfast ever, Megs smile, Megs presence, Greg turning the power back on because we were discussing the bacon and coffee (Greg’s Megs husband who is in heaven). Very powerful stuff, both his love for Meg and his love for bacon. I have to say that last night my man walked into our tiny house after leaving our future house that is absolutely in ruins. He walked in wet and beaten. He saw Iyla and said “ you should know that this has been a very difficult night. I’m enduring so much loss, the house…. I have lost my very personal belongings in a flood. This is true. But look at my face. You see I am calm and I am here with you, present.” Iyla said “like the duck.” I said ”duck?” Iyla said “oh yeah Momma, the duck is cool as a cucumber on top of the water but swimming so fast underneath to keep it all a go.” So here is to the ducks out there in this storm.
