Debra Messing Instagram – Happy Purim! Today we celebrate Queen Esther (5th Century BC) saving the Jews from an edict that called for the genocide of the Jewish People. It’s particularly special celebrating a woman as the hero. It’s hard not to see the present in the past. But that’s the miracle of the Jewish people. Our joy, and when necessary, our grit. Over 3000 years , every Empire tried to destroy us, and while those Empires are now only in history books, we still stand. We know it’s a miracle that we are alive. We know what our forefathers endured, and that they never gave up, even in the darkest hours. So we celebrate life. These past months I have found myself seeking out talisman and Judaica jewelry to wear as a statement of pride, as well as a source of strength and comfort and protection. Today I’m wearing @miriammerenfeldjewelry’ Woman of Valor shield, and the @hotcrown dalet(the Hebrew letter for D.) It makes me feel connected to my people. An ancient people, in a modern world.
