Ella Balinska Instagram – That’s a wrap on @theoccupantfilm!! This has been arguably the most extreme, emotional and immersive experience I will have the challenge of take on in my career. Honestly going to miss everything about this experience aside from anything that occurred between ‘action’ and ‘cut’ (I genuinely had to dissociate during takes to get through a lot of this process).
It’s almost a miracle that this movie came together against all the odds: avalanches, below freezing temperatures, harsh environments, on the border of Russia and Georgia, trekking up mountains and crossing frozen lakes and an emergency visit to hospital. But we made it happen, and at ridiculous altitudes too. Goodbye Abby, it’s been a ride and then some.

Thank you to the Georgia crew who had to brave literal snowstorms, the Northern Ireland crew for making me feel human again, and of course the core Dutch contingent that kept me sane throughout the whole experience. @jadinadarling how’s your back feeling after carrying me throughout this production? And @hugokeijzer, thank you for trusting me on this journey. I love you for allowing me to fully immerse myself and I hate you for allowing me to fully immerse myself, and shall be forwarding over the therapy bill 😂
