Having @eliseloehnen in my home, engaging in conversations about our upbringing in the mountains, Montana trails, recommended books (after last night I need to add a new bookshelf – so many amazing recs), and sharing our collective experiences from her book, On Our Best Behavior, was an unforgettable evening. And no, we did not bring our “best behavior”– instead, we authentically embodied our best selves. It was a gathering of support, empathy, and shared experiences, where we served as sounding boards, mirrors, and open arms for one another. Elise’s book, On Our Best Behavior, is undoubtedly a must-read. It delves deep into the societal conditioning that often hinders women’s self-expression, revealing how cultural norms perpetuate cycles of self-sacrifice and repression. What’s truly remarkable is how Elise’s storytelling humanizes these struggles, making them relatable and deeply impactful. I am immensely grateful for trailblazers like Elise, whose bravery in openly sharing personal stories sparks vital conversations and fosters empowerment. Our evening together was a testament to the power of genuine connection and mutual support. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of showing up for each other, embracing vulnerability, and championing one another’s growth. If you haven’t already grabbed her book I ask that you grab as many copies as you can. Gift to friends, lovers, or treat yourself. And bring a highlighter and sticky notes!
