Giovannie Espiritu Instagram – Last night, I was invited by the 🙇🏻♀️amazing @_kimberlyscott_ to be part of the guest cast of @bleachimprov – a comedy improv troupe that I’ve been a fan of for the last few years. They are ridiculously wonderful and just as awesome as the peeps in Hollywood Land.
I’ve been hesitant to return to improv outside of a class setting for a few reasons: the main ones being my anxiety face has never gone away (Billy Merritt marked me down for level 4 for having Back Line Scared Face), they always say to play at the top of your intelligence and I’m afraid that I’m not that intelligent and now EVERYONE will know, and I have real time marble mouth and jumble my words (and colloquial expressions) a lot.
But improv has a way of revealing your subconscious mind and your deepest dreams and fears if you let it. Sure enough, I was faced with a scene dealing with narcissistic personality types… and I realized that my go to is STILL to freeze and fawn when faced with douchbaggery (Which Kim played with such aplomb and confidence).
I think my soul is calling for me to learn how to fight back instead of shutting down. In the scene, I called for back up, which another version of ALLY 3000 made an appearance. 🤖🦾
