Jeanette Aw Instagram – I painted my very first Daruma doll in 2017 and I later featured it in my short film, Senses. Over the years, I’ve received several Daruma dolls. A few really special ones would be a custom made Daruma wearing the Le Cordon Bleu chef whites, one looking like a merlion, and a big gold one in my patisserie, with Once Upon A Time inscribed on it, gifted by the Daruma master himself. Other than being a symbol of good luck, do you know people often make a wish on a Daruma doll as well? You fill in the left eye of the Daruma while making a wish and when your wish is fulfilled, you fill in the other eye. 🤓
Jeanette Aw Instagram – For those of you who enjoy art-related stuff like I do, I’m sure you’ll have fun painting your own Daruma doll. Fun fact: Over 80% of the Daruma dolls you see around Japan are made by the craftsmen in Takasaki. They’re also a symbol of good luck, so why not paint your own and bring it home?
