Jeanette Branch Instagram – The late, great Chadwick Boseman raps the 2Pac classic “I Ain’t Mad At Cha”, from a workshop rehearsal of the Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, based on Pac’s discography. Thank you to the play’s director, Kenny Leon for originally sharing this wonderful clip. Side note: Leon’s 2014 revival of Raisin in the Sun starring Denzel remains one of my favorite Broadway shows.
You’ll also notice that Chadwick’s scene partner is the brilliant Christopher Jackson. In addition to starring in this play’s run, he’s been a cornerstone of many excellent projects including In The Heights (“Benny’s Dispatch” remains my jam) and an unforgettable performance as George Washington in Hamilton.
Chadwick didn’t end up starring in the show as he took the role of James Brown in Get On Up, but this serves as yet another compelling demonstration of his talent and versatility as an actor and performer. Bars. 🔥🔥🔥
