Kellie Martin Instagram – Today is my sister, Heather’s, birthday. Normally it is a difficult day for me; I think about how much I miss her and how I wish I could have spent the last 25 years with her. But this year, I’m finally able to celebrate this day, be grateful for the 19 years I had with her, and realize how being her sister continues to shape my life.
The Heather Martin Education Fund in Rheumatology (HMEF) at the Yale School of Medicine was created to advance research of the diagnosis, cause, and treatment of lupus. Benefiting the Section of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy in the Department of Internal Medicine, the fund supports lupus education, including research experiences for students, residents, and fellows in rheumatology, to further cultivate and inspire future leaders in lupus research.
