I got to be a part of this incredibly powerful episode, airing tonight on Compass 6.30pm. I’m honestly not sure if I will be able to watch it straight away. It hits the heart and soul as you discover how people grieve the loss of their most loved friends. And although my role in this show was to provide commentary on the psychology of pet loss and grief, I found myself playing a small role as a case study too. I hope this episode helps those who are grieving; anticipating it, living it, hurting from it. You are not alone. There is a network here that understand and are here to listen. The greatest love we may ever know deserves the recognition and acceptance of the grieving process and I believe this incredibly powerful episode will guide us all. ‘Goodbye, my dog’ airs tonight at 6.30pm on Compass @abctv, or you can stream it now.

Yep, I’m about to have a baby!! In collaboration with the awesome pet insurance team from @knose.pet.care I’ve listed my top tips for preparing the furkids for a new arrival. And… You might be surprised by some of them! What have you done to prepare your dog for your newborn’s arrival?
Will he choose me or fresh food? @lykapetfood #freshfood #realfood #ilost
FREEZE!! Community service announcement. My boys want to remind you to get all your treat dispensers into the freezer overnight – with their regular food and yummy treats. Here are some ideas: Cut up watermelon slices and pop them in the freezer Freeze lactose free yoghurt/milk in different containers Get creative with healthy foods stuffed in treat balls and toys Make up some broth and freeze it in ice cube trays (Pop a little broth in your dogs water to encourage more drinking, if they are older, puppies or have underlying kidney issues) Chunky ice – bits of yummy things frozen in an ice block Frozen treats should be ingested slowly, not easily gobbled up. They are designed to enrich your dog during the hot day not replace their food intake. Also remember: No exercise during the day Inside with aircon Keep temperature constant cool throughout the day No car rides, unless emergency (even though your car may be air conditioned, the walk to and from the car is not) Exercise common sense… and prevent heat distress. Add your creative ideas in the comments xx
Anyone else offer snacks this way?

As a teacher, behaviourist and soon to be mumma, this is a question that I get asked a lot. Is it ok to treat our puppies like babies? Generally I’d say NO! But there are three things that they share in common and need from us. These are my top 3. I’m so excited to partner with @knose.pet.care who are committed to Australian pets being the happiest and healthiest in the world. Understanding our pet’s behaviour and how they feel is a sure way achieve that goal! #petinsurance #loveyourpet #understandyourpet #keepthemsafe #knose
