Liberté Chan Instagram – What I eat in a day: Detox Edition
Since I was traveling and eating out a lot in January, I feel like I needed a major detox. So this month, I stopped drinking alcohol and instead of regular coffee, I switched to decaf. I’m also focusing on eating more protein at every meal, which is essential for detoxification (amino acids – the building blocks of protein – bind to toxins in the liver and support their removal from the body).
There are many things that contribute to detoxing the body (sleep, stress, physical exercise, environmental exposures, etc.), but your eating pattern is a huge component. What you eat can either help or hinder your body’s ability to process and eliminate toxins.
This is what was on the menu today:
▪️Chinese Herbs w/hot water
▪️Spirulina Chlorella by @sunfood
▪️Romaine Salad tomatoes, carrots, broccoli sprouts, hemp seeds ( homemade avocado dressing; protip: when using EVOO, go with the darker green olive oil because it has more active polyphenols which are protective against disease)
▪️Chia Pudding
▪️Raw Coconut
▪️Hummus & Beets Cilantro
▪️Golden Milk Latte by Sunfood (I used flax milk for added protein, but you can use whatever type of milk you prefer)
Note: herbs like turmeric, ginger and cinnamon are anti-inflammatory detoxifying
▪️Edamame (soybeans contain phytonutrients, called isoflavones, and have been shown to influence liver detoxification)
▪️Dandelion Extract (used by herbalists to detoxify the liver)
▪️Coconut Curry with Vegetables, Chickpeas, Non-GMO tofu Cilantro (cilantro helps remove heavy metals from your body)
