Linda Burney Instagram – Today was a proud day for Ngurratjuta communities. Because they’ll be in the driver’s seat after Ngurratjuta, the NT Government and the Commonwealth signed a local decision making agreement.
I was in Ikuntji/Haasts Bluff today to sign the agreement, and it’s clear that they’re a community that’s strong and proud.
The agreement means that locals will be taking on more responsibility, and making sure investments and services deliver on the ground.
The Chair of Ngurratjuta, Alison Anderson, said that “this is about taking control of our own narrative. Working together without malice, racism or blame. It’s about economic development and jobs.”
