Megan Boone Instagram – Yórgos Lánthimos has delivered a twisted Frankenstein-esque fable of an embodied woman living without shame- as if to bring Mary Shelley back from the dead with the trailblazing feminism of her maternal line en tow. A creative height for Emma Stone, her humor and physical freedom burn like a torch carrying us through every layer of the world. Ramy Youseff, as honest an actor as he is a stand up comedian, grounds and cements the core relationships with quasi-human Willem Defoe & Stone, who are so unique they lend a bridge to this fantasty. Mark Ruffalo makes bold and delightfully strange choices that elevate his chapters, and left me wondering how anyone could feel so free then aspiring to it. The score by Jerskin Fendrix seems to invent instrumentation. I’m delighted to have been in this world last night.
