My wife.
A woman who takes us to the spider pavilion and tells me we will have a pet tarantula one day.
To the woman who works out just as hard as I do.
To the woman who doesn’t mind getting wet, dirty, sweaty, or uncomfortable when life calls for it.
To the woman who seeks adventure; festivals, farms, museums, gardens, camping, fishing, hiking, cave exploring, swimming, playing at every park, long walks for hours to nowhere in particular, trying every untraditional hole-in-the-wall food spot, family baking projects, and working even harder than we play.
To the woman who will also rest with me, laying on the couch binging all the shows we hadn’t had the time to watch while massaging each other’s feet. When she’s truly in need of rest, I put on true crime and she’ll cuddle up to me, quickly falling asleep. The family calls it her “true crime nap.”
To the woman who created these beautiful babies. Both of them so loving, caring, and thriving. Every day with them is a joyous blessing. How lucky I am to watch them grow and help them any way I can along their journey.
Today marks one year of union with my wife, although I swear we’ve crossed paths many times over millions of years and several lifetimes. But on this trip I say,
