So very proud of my husband, Navin Girishankar, who ran the Double Blossom @cucb this weekend in DC. An excerpt from Navin’s post on LinkdIn: I dedicated my Double Blossom to the more than 1.2 million Americans we lost to the COVID pandemic. It has been 4 years since COVID landed on our shores, turning our lives upside down and taking so many of our loved ones. I was almost one of them. Last week marked 4 years since I survived the ventilator and began my journey back to health, vitality, and a full life – thanks to my beloved wife, family, and friends. I feel that we, as a country, have let the memory of the pandemic fade – perhaps for good reason, perhaps not. I’d urge us not to do so. We certainly must never forget those we lost. But we must never forget another simple fact, especially amidst the din of polarized politics. That simple fact is that we, as a nation, PREVAILED. We prevailed because of the countless silent heroes who decided to care in spite of the uncertainty and the fear. These silent heroes were the first responders who carried the sick from their homes when they could not breathe. They were the doctors and nurses who fought the virus day in and day out in the COVID wards. They were the Doordashers and Instacart drivers who picked up and delivered our groceries. They were the parents who did triple and quadruple duty – serving as teachers and playmates and everything in between. They were the medical researchers who devised the life-saving vaccines and therapeutics that brought us back as a functioning society. They were the small businesses that somehow kept operating in the face of unprecedented economic challenges. They were the conscientious employers and coworkers who found ways to innovate the ways we work while looking out for their teammates. THEY – those silent heroes – were US. We were all these things and more to each other and for each other. And that is why we prevailed. And that is also why – even in the face of what appears to be a world gone mad – I still have faith in our ability, as a people, to recognize and assert our common humanity. Let’s keep the faith. #norwalkhospital #danburyhospital #covid #gratitude

Awe. Walking beneath these blossoms is a chance to have silence, beauty & wonder pulled in like a glorious blanket around you. I wish this peace to all souls on the planet right now. And I even got to see Stumpy, still in bloom despite its carved out trunk & besieged base. An invitation & inspiration. #cherryblossoms #peace #dc #inspiration #healing #spring
