We embarked for 2 days this week on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier and the USS Gravely destroyer in the Red Sea, where the US Navy has been trying to beat back attacks by the Houthi rebels in Yemen on shipping and US & coalition forces. It’s not yet clear if it’s working. Here is our piece, shot by the great @scottpisczek @cnn
5 years ago yesterday, American Paul Whelan was arrested in Moscow. He’s since been left behind in two prisoner swaps between the US and Russia, with Russia refusing to release him…thanks to our State Dept producer Jennifer Hansler for her many phone calls with Whelan that you can hear here.
