Nikki DeLoach Instagram – This is a gratitude post for Paul Ziller, our director on the last three Curious Caterer movies. Directing is the hardest job on a set, even on the easiest of days. And Paul not only makes it feel so effortless, he leads with such kindness, precision and with zero ego. It’s one thing to direct a movie and bring it to its completion. But it’s a whole other thing to do so and make your entire cast and crew feel safe, valued, seen and heard, while having a lot of fun along the way. That is true leadership. It’s such an honor to be lead by Paul. I am so grateful for all he does to make Curious Caterer a success.
Nikki DeLoach Instagram – Welp! You asked, we listened! We’ve heard a lot about our podcast recently, specifically, what happened to it?!! It is safe to say when you’re grieving it is hard to carry a conversation with yourself, let alone the world. It’s hard, actually! Preparing for a guest, making sure you’re on top of your game as a host. If you’re going to put something out into the world, it better be valuable. Otherwise, it’s just added noise.
One of my very best friends in this world happens to live on the west coast. It is a real pain. So, @nikdeloach and I decided on a compromise that helps us see and talk more AND it brings back the podcast.
Drumroll: She’s going to co-host the podcast with me! We are also changing it up a bit. This won’t just be about Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving but rather ALL the parts about life that are hard, and how to find your way through the hard. Specifically, we want to help you navigate the hardest parts of your journey and bring a deeper meaning to the pain you may experience as ANY kind of caregiver. Children, parents, spouses, friends even. It all matters.
Nikki lost her father to the most vicious kind of brain disease, and she did it while her son was fighting for his life. She knows pain. She’s also the most genuinely kind and hilarious person I know. She single handedly (and from three hours and 3,000 miles away) helped me the entire horrific last six months of my mom’s life. She talked to doctors when I couldn’t, she navigated family dynamics that got out of control when I couldn’t. She is that person, that friend. She drops everything and gets in the mud with you without taking off her coat. I love her and I know you all will too. Here’s to MINDING WHAT MATTERS!
