Both @leeannewong and @pukalanisuperette are in town to advocate for a better Maui and aid to rebuild after the fires. (Yes, Lahaina and the west side of the island are still deeply impacted by the aftermath and the devastation of the fires even though the news cycle has moved on.)
I am cheering @leeannewong and @pukalanisuperette on as they represent the Hawaii delegation and will meet with President Biden and Vice President Harris today to advocate for the working class and mom & pop establishments that are still in need of help today.
While I know that I haven’t used this platform in a long while to chat about this, and know that this site overall is not pushing this type of content since late last year. I am deeply moved to post for Hawai’i and for champions like Lee Anne and Michelle as this situation mirrors what is still happening in Puerto Rico til this day.
As the news cycle turns to the next hot gossip or content shifts I pray that we can hold steadfast moving in tandem and in community- and if needed in silence to create impactful and lasting change.
We don’t always have to boast of the things that we do in the real world online. But! I implore you all who are reading this and are overcome by the overwhelm of this world to remember to do. Help change the course of our future one ripple affect at a time. Even if no one knows of what you do, I implore you to take a moment and say, today I will try to make a difference in this world. (Cause at this point, all we can do is try)
Thank you @leeannewong and @pukalanisuperette for being amazing women in our industry and I hope that you can feel our support even if we’re many miles away when you’re back home.
