Sameksha Instagram – Yoga has been integral part of my life so much so that I went to various ashramas and institutes to learn the real meaning of Yoga.
So just a gist of what I have understood about YOGA ….Yoga is not only about yoga asanas, it’s the union of your body and mind. Asanas are important to keep our body healthy at physiological level like spinal twist, forward bend, backward bend , inverted asanas etc. works at internal organs like liver, kidneys , lungs … removes toxins from our body, rejuvenates cells and increase lung capacity. Unlike weight training and cardio exercises which help in gaining muscular strength ,cardiovascular health and building stamina .This is the physical aspect of our yoga. 
Second important thing in yoga is breathing… which has direct connection to our emotions… a person who is angry or shouting will have shallow breathing that time and when we are talking to a child or very close to someone we love , we breath slowly and deeply … our mind is in deep relaxation state that time. So try to be aware of your breath any time of the day and take deep breaths as soon as you feel aware of yourself…Long inhalations and longer exhalations… this will keep your mind calm and you will be rejuvenated. I don’t feel there is specific time to do meditation. One should be in meditative state all the time.
Third most important thing is Knowledge …..Without knowledge you will feed yourself with wrong kind of food at wrong timings and wrong combination of food( again this is physical aspect)
Without knowledge of your thoughts you will feed your thinking with negative thoughts and those thoughts will become your emotions and you will start judging people and situations based on that. So be aware and try to discard any negative thought entering your mind. And heal yourself with Satsang means be in the company of good progressive, positive, lovable people and in the company of good books.
