I missed a couple cues but we got to the end. I encourage everyone to go out there and do something scary in your life and try as many new things as one can. Failure is the only way to get to success.
I used to think I couldn’t sing well. I told myself this my whole life because maybe I couldn’t hit super high notes or belt like my musical theater friends.
And when I started playing guitar because of my hand nerve injury. I thought, “I might as well sing too. At least, songs I know.” It was to help build the neuroplasticity in my brain and honestly it’s one of the greatest things I ever did. It has brought me so much joy.
My fingers hurt for months when I first started playing, and I didn’t know all the chords And I wasn’t really strong vocally either but because I practiced every day sometimes for an hour sometimes more…. I got better.
In this world, we aren’t used to feeling uncomfortable or having patience in our discomfort. Everything is so easily accessible. We don’t have to work hard to accomplish much that used to be so much more difficult than it is today. Nothing worth anything is ever easy. It just takes patience and kindness to oneself and just a little bit of strength to try.
If we don’t believe in ourselves, we can’t believe in anyone else, so I encourage every person to try something new and stick with it. Even if it’s just for a couple minutes a day, I guarantee that in a few years it’ll pay off. Even if it’s for one night where you mess up a little bit and forget the bridge but the joy of it makes you feel absolutely alive..
