With a keen understanding of sports’ pivotal role in Nigeria, Del-York Group facilitated a courtesy visit for American NFL (@nfl @nflafrica ) Stars, Odafe Jayson Oweh (@dafeoweh)and Jesse Luketa (@ottawasveryown) to Will Stevens, the US Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria.
This visit explored the growing potential of sports, especially American football, as a driving force for youth and local talent development, building and fostering international relations between the US and Nigeria.
The @nfl boasts over 135 players of African descent, (African-born or first-generation born in the U.S.) with Nigeria contributing a significant portion of this talent (11 active players and a total of 34 previous players who are of Nigerian origin). This growing pool of Nigerian players highlights the immense potential of the African continent. The NFL is actively expanding its reach in Africa, aiming to cultivate a passionate fan base and discover the next generation of football stars.
