Trudie Styler Instagram – This week for #femalefilmmakerfriday, I want to spotlight screenwriter and producer Meredith Scardino for her show #Girls5Eva! Meredith got her start in film as an animator before transitioning into writing, landing her first writing job on the VH1 comedy series Best Week Ever. She went on to write for The Late Show with David Letterman and the Colbert Report and was a part of the team that won the Emmy in 2008 for Outstanding Comedy Program. Meredith then joined the writing staff for Tina Fey’s hit Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt which she co-executive-produced. Her latest project Girls5eva follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 1990s whos song is sampled by a young rapper, reuniting the girls to give their pop star dreams one more shot — this time while balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, ageing parents, and shoulder pain.
