RIP ❤️ Carl Weathers directed me in a film – what feels like not so long ago…never realized he was in his 70s. He had a strength & energy about him that felt invigorating & youthful. He took work seriously but also joked with me & gave me silly nicknames. I’ve always had a lot of respect for him. Grateful that I had the opportunity to know him. Personal post: @abccasting first cast me as Guest Star Lana Moore on @thegooddoctorabc (🙏 @lizdeancasting @sbaidwan @bdot_shin @shorez ), then as a Series Regular on the drama series UNTIL THE WEDDING (🙏 @redvelours ) & then called me back during COVID for the @disneytvstudios Talent Showcase despite my severe incapacitation due to quarantining in major construction (blacking out from fumes, meltdowns from daily noise/shaking from drilling/banging while my landlord threatened eviction & stalked me). Thank you @kmrtalent for supporting me despite me being in the worst functioning condition of my life. Though I will forever be dealing with the aftermath of what the construction/landlord permanently did to my health, the encouragement of ABC executives, my representatives, casting directors, & fans needs to be acknowledged – I am so grateful to everyone who believed in me & didn’t allow preconceived notions to affect their perception of me. Acting helped me cope with life & fulfilled my passion for storytelling since childhood, but I never believed I’d be acting full-time – I’m not pretty enough, “normal” enough, etc. I am grateful to my screenwriting & acting teachers who encouraged me to pursue my dream despite my insecurities. Creating art that impacts society is the most incredible feeling.
