I don’t know how she could have died and nobody told me or her. So I called her and asked her was she dead and she said hell no! Can whoever is responsible for this please stop you better be careful when you speak death over a child of God. This woman is loved by millions and you’re hurting a lot of people. Cassi is fine living her best life with no worries, no cares, no social media, and no drama. She’s waiting to shoot the next season of House of Payne.

Caption : I said I wouldn’t watch that video Tyre Nichols I said for my own peace of mind, for the sake of my own sanity, for my hope for what’s left of the human race, I would not watch the awful murder of another black man. This time I would refuse. I wanted to have the luxury of many people in the world who can just turn it off with ease. Many people can’t imagine it happening to them because honestly, it never will. I was determined to see what that space felt like for once, I would cover my ears and not let in the outside. I knew it wasn’t possible because when some people hate the outside it doesn’t matter what’s on the inside even if what’s in there looks like them. So today I will cry, I will be depressed, I will curse, I will be outraged, I will want to burn some shit up, I will be in agony, I will let my heart break for his family, I will moan with his tenor harmony from my own experience that is every black man that’s ever called for the safety of the arms of mamma, I will inaudibly scream. But somewhere in the wrestling between the moon and the sun for the right to deliver light as if one is good and the other is evil, in that hour, I will get quiet, then I will be still, I will weep, and then I will pray.. and with the morning light, no matter who tried to dim it… I will get up and I will fight on! That is until these women were sent over to Europe to get it sorted. Several other companies had tried but couldn’t so the army just assumed that they would fail. But you never underestimate the ability of a black woman nor their intelligence or ingenuity. These women sorted and delivered over 17 million pieces of mail in 90 days, thereby brining hope and communication to every fighting solider and their families. I had the honor of sitting with Ms. King back in April and after one meeting, her recollection, class and dignity sent me on a path to write the script and tell the stories of these brave, powerful, and remarkable woman. We are currently filming this movie, called The Six triple eight. So Ms. King, on behalf of every person in this country who have the freedoms we do now because of what you all endured in battle and at home I just want to say thank you to you and all the members of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. I just want you to know that you may hear a lot of cliches from people, things like “you loved them but God loved them best” or “they are with the Lord now” and people really do mean well when they say these things, however the truth of the matter is, nothing can comfort you, one moment you will be fine and the next you’ll be breaking down. Having lost my mother whom I was very close to, the best advice I can give you is to let grief come when it comes. It can’t be scheduled. You can’t “work” through it, it will just wait for you to finish the job. You can’t sleep through it, it will be waiting for you by the bedside when you awake in the morning. Believe me I tried… Unfortunately grief is a living thing that visits at will. The only thing I can offer you is a prayer, and my prayer for you is that it comes in waves. Gentle ones that give you enough grace In between them so that you can function. And lastly I’ll say this to you my dear friend, be around people you trust because I promise you it’s hard to trust yourself when grief is wrapped around you like a old familiar robe. I remember her coming home from work one day devastated because there was a bomb threat and my mother was horrified that there were people who wanted to blow up a building full of children because they were Jewish. I blurred their faces but think about that. It brought her back to that pain of having to live through the bombing of a church in Alabama where three little black girls died. My mother made sure that I knew the commonality of what black people and Jewish people have endured – she not only taught me about slavery but she also taught me about the Holocaust. But in teaching me about all our common pains she also taught me about the allies that Jewish people have been for black people. Case in point, look at the founding members of the NAACP – it took allies to get us to a better place in this country and those allies didn’t look like us. It was Jewish allies that were murdered in Mississippi trying to help us get the right to vote. I can fill this post with so many examples including my own allies that I work with today who have helped me grow a business that has allowed me to hire more black people than most businesses in Hollywood. No one makes it alone. Refuse hate!!

Caption : My mother taught me the value of compassion and giving. She taught me that you don’t have to have much to make a difference in people’s lives so I’ve always been someone that got great joy in being able to help someone make their dreams come true. My studio can point to thousands of examples. However, what my mother failed to mention was that a lot of times people will not show gratitude, or appreciation not even say thank you. Let’s be clear, I’ve never done anything to help someone expecting anything in return but like any human, it’s good to know that someone appreciates what you’ve done, so ungrateful people have lead to me having many bouts with compassion fatigue. With that said, out of all the things I’ve done to help people some you know, most you don’t (I wouldn’t even mention this had he not gone public and given me permission to), this young man has made me want to keep on giving and helping, he didn’t let anything stop him. He put himself through college by working as a sanitation worker, sometimes even coming to school after work with no chance to change or shower, looked down on by many but very encouraged by his fellow sanitation workers. He not only graduated but got accepted into Harvard Law School. One day he said hi to a custodian at Harvard and she thought she misheard. She said, I’m sorry, I didn’t think you were talking to me, none of the students every talk to me. It moved him like his story moved me and just as I helped him, he started an initiative and raised over 70 thousand dollars to help the people that most don’t even see. Rehan, you are truly my hero and I couldn’t be more proud of you even if you were my own son. I see people who have way more opportunity and privilege but you put them all to shame. Way to go kid! I look forward to meeting you in person one day. Tyler

Caption : When I was in my early 30s I didn’t know Oprah very well, but she gave me an experience that changed my life and set me on a path that has allowed me to try and do the same for many others. She invited me to her Legends Ball, and I have to tell you, I was sitting in that room just looking at all of those legends, from a future President named Barack Obama to Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Maya Angelou, Coretta Scott King, and Sidney Poitier. I mean, all my icons. Everywhere I turned there was someone else who blew my mind. Being there in that moment, something happened that changed my life’s path. You see, at that age I struggled with feeling worthy of good things. I often felt small, like I didn’t belong. But what I now know, looking back from my 52 years of living in this body, is that that feeling comes from the abuse I endured, the things that were said and done to me as a child. But hear me clearly, I had to do away with that feeling because that is a dangerous mindset. Feeling unworthy can cause you to miss your greatest blessing. And trust me, I know how hard it is to feel worthy, especially when you grow up in an abusive household. Thank God I got past it. One of the things that helped me heal was being in that room. When I was sitting at a table with Yolanda Adams I said out loud, “What am I doing in this room?” She turned to me and said, “YOU BELONG IN THIS ROOM!” And I never forgot it. The understanding that I BELONG IN THE ROOM quickly shifted my perspective. I tell you, you will be surprised what you see when your mind allows you to understand that you belong in the room. In that very moment I decided to UP MY DREAMING!! And God met me at the level that I started to dream on. On the last day of the ball, there at the gospel brunch, I was asked what I thought, and my response is in this short clip. I really did start to dream bigger and by doing that, God has blown my mind. I said all that to say this, the people in your life who make you dream bigger are the points on your soul’s compass.
