Tickets on sale soon! “The last time I did this on tour the response was overwhelming, with literally hundreds of paper airplanes with song requests being launched on cue from fans at the start of the second half of each of my concerts. It’s the purest, most low-tech form of engagement that creates a special bond with my audiences.” – Ben Folds #paperairplanerequesttour

Nashville: I just early voted @freddiefornashville for Mayor. Remember, we don’t have to do as much protesting if we just get it right at the ballot box. But we gotta show up. Anyone with friends in Nashville, push them to take a few minutes to vote.

Fine residents of the DC area: I’ve got a solo piano show this Thursday, September 21st at the Main Concert Hall at @kennedycenter. Tix in bio. If there ever was a home venue for me, it is this incredible place. Lucky me! I do a lot of work there with the National Symphony Orchestra, but this show will be me as a musician in my natural habitat, on tour, in support of my new album “What Matters Most.” In fact, the song “Paddleboat Breakup” on the new album came from an improvised song at my last Kennedy Center solo show a couple years ago. So yes, there will be new songs. But I also want to make this set special with your input. I’m not normally this democratic, but, hey, it’s DC. Feel free to respond to this post with your requests and song suggestions. I’ll put together a unique set for the 21st (haha..I’ll have to brush up) to honor my home away from home gig. Also, plan on arriving early enough to catch special guest @linzkraft (look her up) and thank me later. See ya there, Ben. Photo credit: Alysse Gafkjen

“Throughout the evening, Ben Folds would change the feel in the room, alternating from gentle and tender songs to thunderous and ferociously played pieces to an audience that gleamed with every note and anecdote. Folds possesses the technical prowess to flawlessly execute each song as it was recorded; however, without any backing musicians, he chose to deliberately diverge from any written sheet music and instead channel his emotions and release them with every strike of the piano keys. When Folds channeled all of his energy into the keys, the concert hall resonated with passionate, complex, and thunderous music – much to the audience’s delight.” SEE BEN LIVE: benfolds.com/tour US/UK/EUROPE DATES AVAILABLE Read the full article on Ben’s Facebook.
