Brandon Mychal Smith Instagram – I write this with a heavy heart , yesterday I cried tears of love for my friend , my mentor and someone who was like a father to me @mattyperry4 . Matt took me to my first hockey game in Canada when we were filming
The Ron Clark Story & literally treated me like a son every day of shooting this movie. Not only did he embrace me as a son but he opened his heart to my father & sister every day on set. He was that effortless ray of light & love every moment. He challenged me , he raised my level of focus and together we created art . My performance in this film was for me the best of my career because of Matt , he allowed me to take risk embrace my vulnerabilities while wearing my emotions on my sleeve transcending space and time . We cried together , we laughed together and we created art for the world to hopefully be inspired for generations to come. Was hoping to run into you again on a red carpet somewhere and laugh about that first hockey game Matt but I know I will see you again behind those shiny golden gates one day .
I love you and I miss you .
