Brian Wilson Instagram – Today in 1972, The Beach Boys released their 18th studio album, Carl and the Passions – “So Tough.” The album was a significant musical departure for the band and the first to feature Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar. Brian’s three contributions included “You Need a Mess of Help to Stand Alone,” “Marcella” and “He Come Down.” While the album didn’t originally sell well, it’s become a cult favorite of fans, as well as Elton John show said “this is an album which I have loved for a long time. [it has] moments of breathtaking genius and experimentation. When this record was released, I remember how different and fresh it sounded. It still does.” What’s your favorite?
