Daniel MacPherson Instagram – Why I train? Heres 5 reasons 🙏🏼⚡️
1. Look after your body and it will look after you! I’m 44 in a few months and despite a lifetime of sports and exercise, I’m feeling stronger and fitter than ever and most importantly – mobile and injury free! That allows me to be better father and partner, and take on the level of work and travel that keeps me inspired and hungry!
2. It makes me happy! Getting up and moving clears the stagnant overnight energy. Gets my heart pumping, body sweating and most importantly energy shifting. It leaves me clearer, more focused and more present for the day ahead. I’m better to be around and better for those who are relying on me in work and life.
3. Aesthetic. No way to hide this one or sugar coat it. I’ve worked non stop for over 25 years in one of the most image conscious industries in the world – in Sydney London Los Angeles & the rest – and I’ve got to be in shape. You never know when the next opportunity is coming and you have to be ready for it. That takes a heck of a lot of faith sometimes. And there’s been times when those opportunities have come and I haven’t been in shape – and I’ve missed out! In an industry where so much is out of your control, you have to stay on top of what is in your control. Stay sharp. Stay ready.
4. It’s opened up the world! Sport and fitness have taken me on adventures I’d never thought possible, to places I’ve never dreamed and have created friendships that have enriched my life! Running through a new city as the sun is rising? The best way to discover a new country and culture. Racing Ironman through the lava fields of Kona or the forests of North America! Adventure racing in Tasmania! Marathons in London & LA! Midnight 10ks in Budapest or epic hikes through Croatia. Keeping a strong base level of fitness has allowed me to dive in and just say YES when the opportunity of adventure arises!
5. Learning new skills! I love learning and I seeing what my body and mind is capable of. Losing 17kgs to play a jockey. Working with Navy Seals and SAS to learn elite level weapons handling. Bulking up for Foundation or spending the last year Boxing Muay Thai & MMA for a role.
