Donal Logue Instagram – Back home. It was a quick hit, but my love for Calexico, El Centro, and Mexicali is vast. Our apartment was the one on the top right. Blissfully unaware the Andrade Apartments were a brothel run by an old lady who posted up in a lawn chair in the shade of the palm trees, I learned to skateboard on the cracked concrete of its courtyard. Across the street was a tangerine field I raided on the daily. Borders (both within and without) are wild places to bounce between and special places to live around. My time in Mexicali (and Nogales) taught me a lot about the world and shaped my childhood in a way I wouldn’t trade for anything. | Posted on 17/Apr/2024 21:48:55
