Greg Nicotero Instagram – 40 years ago today a small second unit was filming pick ups for John Carpenter’s soon to be masterpiece THE THING. when I was working with John on “in the mouth of madness” he shared some of the storyboards and schedules with me and on this particular day (Jan 6 1982) they were filming inserts for a scene that would turn out to be one of the most iconic in the last several decades. Brilliant and groundbreaking make up effects work by Rob Bottin to this day continue to impress. Before computers, the sheer ingenuity and collaboration is staggering!
