I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Jonathan Bailey’s sudden rise to stardom. Of course we’ve seen this before with other stars, but rarely have we (if ever) seen this with an openly gay actor. The impact of this is huge.
He’s the actor of the moment everybody seems to have the hots for, yet he’s able to be himself without that piece of information about him hindering his rise to fame. He’s able to play a sex symbol on shows like ‘Bridgerton,’ or the straight male lead in ‘Wicked,’ while still doing queer roles like ‘Fellow Travelers.’
Like let’s step back and realize we’ve never seen this before. This is new. This is big. And I, for one, am so excited to see it.
