Make no mistake: the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is not inevitable. It is the result of intentional decisions being made on the ground about how aid is delivered into the area. 
 
The Israeli blockade of food, water, fuel, and essential medicines and supplies is inflicting immense suffering on Palestinians in Gaza. While the opening of Erez crossing and Ashdod port are important steps in the right direction to alleviating the record humanitarian suffering in Gaza, significant challenges remain, and much more needs to be done. 
 
What must happen is clear: more routes must open for land delivery of aid into Gaza and there must be an immediate ceasefire to allow for the necessary scale up of aid to prevent further human suffering. | Posted on 13/Apr/2024 21:33:56
