Mehcad Brooks Instagram – I’ve spent a lot of time getting familiar with the concept that our consciousness itself has an energy body if you will. And that energy body needs to be conditioned the same way we condition our physical bodies.
Gratitude is often times misunderstood as a cause and effect phenomenon rather than something that can be invoked or summoned by the practice of present awareness and training of the energy body.
#Gratitude is not just a powerful emotion, it is a muscle of consciousness. Much like our physical muscles, which grow stronger and more resilient with exercise, the capacity for gratitude can be developed and enhanced through consistent conditioning.
Expressing gratitude might feel forced during times of distress or when faced with life’s myriad challenges.
However, as you continue to intentionally seek out and acknowledge the positive aspects of your life, the “gratitude muscle” begins to strengthen.
It’s a conscious decision to notice the good in the everyday – the warmth of the sun, the support of friends, family and colleagues, or the satisfaction of being better than you were yesterday.
When you keep a gratitude journal or share what you’re thankful for with others, neural pathways in the brain are reinforced. Over time, this practice reshapes our thinking patterns, making us more prone to automatically noticing and appreciating the positives and understanding their is always a solution to whatever feels unaligned.
Just as the more you workout you become more adept at lifting heavier weights, and training longer and harder, when you routinely practice gratitude, you becomes more skilled at recognizing the abundance in your life, in every moment despite external circumstances.
