Prince Instagram – On this day in 1988, Prince released his tenth full-length studio album, Lovesexy, in the US, days after it was available in France and the UK. The project came about very quickly after Prince shifted focus once he’d cancelled the release of The Black Album. With the musical spotlight now on his spiritual side, Prince has referred to Lovesexy as his “gospel album,” and in an artistic statement about how he felt regarding this release, he decided that the physical CD would consist of one long track, instead of nine individual songs.
“Lovesexy (was) a mind trip, like a psychedelic movie. Either you went with it and had a mind-blowing experience or you didn’t.” – Prince
Lovesexy was also an historic calling card for Paisley Park, his recently opened Minneapolis studio, as this was the first full release that he’d recorded entirely at the facility. | Posted on 10/May/2024 20:45:41
