School Lunch!
For one month I will eat school lunch, and only school lunch – for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s what we feed our kids, so I should get healthier right? Let’s find out!
That’s the premise of the upcoming short film where I explore what our children are eating at school, share the truth that I learn about the food system, and showcase schools that are growing healthy school lunches right in their schoolyards and sourcing from local, sustainable farmers.
The month-long campaign will take place this April in Los Angeles.
Along with the short film, School Lunch will also be a media campaign to reach millions with this message of questioning our food and changing our food systems and our personal actions. I’m grateful to be working with a production team on this film!
I grew up on school lunch, but it has been close to two decades since I’ve eaten one. I’m incredibly curious to see if and how my health changes from a month of eating only school lunch. I will be doing medical tests before I begin and throughout the 30 days to track the changes in my health.
We are looking for support from the community to pull this campaign off including finding a school in Los Angeles that would like to participate, sourcing my month of school lunches, a volunteer to assist with production, and simple housing for my time I am in LA. We are also looking for students and schools who are growing food for healthy school lunches to feature in the film.
