Also we got reviewed in @eater_la by @rebeccaroland and it’s been a while since I’ve been reviewed lol but it was really great to see the article and know they were picking up what we have been trying to put down.
And I know you’re never supposed to read the comments section in Eater but I did and damn it’s still a toxic place sometimes. Maybe indirectly that’s a small facet of why it took us so long to open something new again in LA. I can take scrutiny and honesty but the hate hurts (I’m a Pisces) and it just took some time for me to be ready for that again I guess.
But what a ride from pop-up a month ago to now being reviewed. It’s a trip for sure.
I don’t have much to say on the vitriol on the internet, I just gotta address that this is not cosplay or some appropriation or hobby, this is us, Kogi, and who we’ve always been and who we are as people. This is our food, culture, perspective and that’s really the truth. Not trying to be anything else or take anything from anyone else. We are being our ourselves and serving the most affordable, delicious food we can.
As I climb out of the comments sections what does give me strength is seeing you in line and smiling when you eat the food.
That gives me the courage to continue.
