Initially, it was recorded for and included only on the international release of Sakamoto’s 1998 album “BTTB”. However, when releasing the 20th-anniversary re-mastered version, Sakamoto chose his preferred track list to officially include “reversing” on “BTTB”.
The solo piano work focuses on rhythm and frequently alternates between odd meters.

From Ryuichi’s commentary on “BTTB”:
“I had been thinking somehow that “BTTB” would be my first and last album of just piano. But I now feel that I would like to do another if the opportunity comes up. There are many piano lovers in Japan, and maybe it’s because a lot of them actually play the piano, but my piano pieces are widely accepted. That makes me sincerely happy. Furthermore, I think that the piano will be with me for the rest of my life. It certainly is the instrument that is closest to me, an extension of my body.”
