This was truly a labor of love. We shot this film in 13 days on a micro budget and boy, did I learn many, many things about film making, trust, and letting go of character judgement during this process. By the end, I felt like I was part of a small family that I cared for dearly. That, amidst the sheer exhaustion of doing a feature length film in 13 days.
SPARK is about Aaron, a hopeless romantic, who finds himself reliving the same day after an awkward but intense encounter with the mysterious Trevor. His excitement at the opportunity for a do-over soon turns sour as Aaron suspects Trevor may be the cause of his time loop. Aaron’s relentless pursuit of love forces him to confront his own insecurities and the blurred boundaries between infatuation and self destruction. Groundhog Day meets Vertigo in this cyclical tale of cosmic fuckery, and Nicholas’s Giuricich’s first feature delves into the desire for connection and the heart allure of toxic relationships. Can Aaron break out of his cycle, or is he destined to live out his life, stuck in the same patterns?
