Yuriy Sardarov Instagram – I begged people to stay indoors. I asked my folks, proud residents of Florida, to stay away from their friends. Then, George Floyd was murdered, and I watched the video, and I’m not sure if it was the months in relative isolation or the loss of my beloved time-suck, the NBA, or the stark HD quality of his lynching, but something inside me became irreparably broken (or did something wake up?) and as I joined thousands in the streets time and time again to march for his life and the life of countless others, I felt a camaraderie and love and purpose I’ve seldom felt in my life.

I got my COVID test. I’m thankfully negative. But let’s be clear, we didn’t risk our health for the right to go to the beach, we risked it for the LIFE of our sisters and brother. I’d call that patriotism.

Don’t lose faith, don’t lose steam, and don’t forget; Civil unrest gets shit done.
