Alisha Gaddis Instagram – Massive understatement – the 99 cent store got us through some rough times 🩷 Since the moment Lucky and I moved in together in Los Feliz, we shopped those aisles for fresh produce, school supplies, bday presents and holiday magic. Out of necessity more times than I can count. One year, Santa got all his presents from there ❤️🎅🏼 When we moved to South Pasadena, our main excitement was that there was a location across street. Upon moving again, that remained our local and we shopped this store just last week. The 99 helped us survive and then thrive. It’s odd how we’retruly emotional and flooded for gratitude about what this cheap franchise did for our family (and community). It really did! I guess it stands for how far we’ve come. How much one small thing can mean so much, and that loss can ripple in different waves. This picture is from the day after we bought the home we live in now. We had completely run out of groceries so I had to acquiesce and walk across the street. Lucky accidentally ran into me carrying about 60 lbs of groceries after I hopped over the parking lot wall. It was the perfect high brow/ low brow photo of our lives. Gracias 99. ❤️One day, our daughter can tell her kids that she shopped at a magical land where (almost) everything was one dollar.
