The protest began on Monday afternoon when protesters pitched tents and barricaded certain entryways to one of the university’s campuses, demanding the university to cut its ties with Israel. In the evening, the protest was attacked by pro-Israeli counter-protesters who beat demonstrators and shot fireworks at them, leading to clashes between both sides.
