Arlo Parks Instagram – Happy Queer Film (For Elowen) It has been twenty four years and we have finally found heaven. Magnesium powder for the goldenrods, foraged blackberries and pine jam, your eyes splintering against moss. We make out like teenagers in the rainstorm, come in wet-dark and glowing. I drag my sweater over my head I get my records out.
Arlo Parks Instagram – I’ve always seen my work as a conversation with the world and this year it deepened and expanded: putting out My Soft Machine and my first book/book tour with The Magic Border (thank you @lucydacus for literally one of my favourite conversations EVER) – some dreammm live moments! Selling out the Sydney Opera House and Hammersmith Apollo in my hometown, headline shows in Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo, playing my first festivals in Latin America (Brazil and Mexico)! poetry workshops and continued work with @unicef, Tiny Desk, Broken Record – all these markers and moments and lightning strikes – my heart is so full. The richness of this year has truly come through the community building, the nights spent DJing 45s with friends in Brooklyn, boxing, receiving 3am “i really love you” texts, rock climbing and filling the car with chalk, carrying drawings slipped into my books so they don’t fold, midnight pizza and feeling the words running away from me because I’m just as excitable and wide eyed as when I was 15 starting all of this – onwards, onwards, onwards!
