A trailblazing, respected, and proud Black journalist, she dedicated her life to her work and her community — telling our stories, shattering ceilings, and mentoring other Black journalists like Liz Walker and Karen Holmes Ward. She once said, “I plan on doing as much as I can, for as long as I can, and that’s really all I have to say.” She did, and we are all better for it.
